Outdoor Daybeds Make Perfect Indoor Guest Accommodations
69
For many of us, our outdoor room or patio has become an extension of our home. We spend a lot of time each day outdoors. In today’s modern world, we all lead such hectic lives that we are looking for the utmost comfort during our down time. That is why the “outdoor daybed” is the latest piece of “indoor furniture” to make its way onto the patio. We really do want to have our cake and eat it too!
And what is better than lying on that comfy outdoor daybed on your porch or patio with a good book or taking a well-deserved snooze? Napping outdoors has to be the best form of relaxation known to man so why not nap on a comfortable bed! Or what about lying outdoors in the evening and watching the stars?
And while you are lying out there, you must be thinking that this outdoor daybed is probably the best investment you ever made. Well, luckily for you, you may have gotten more than you bargained for when you made that purchase. What I mean is did you ever consider that this outdoor daybed would also make the perfect “indoor night-bed”?
Yes, it’s true! When you have an overnight guest, bringing in your outdoor daybed is the absolute perfect solution. These beds are small and lightweight so they can be very easily moved to anywhere in your house; so with minimal effort and time, you’ve created a guest room on the spot.
Daybeds usually sleep two people, so if you have another couple staying with you, this is ideal. Granted, you cannot realistically compare the comfort to that of a full-size mattress since these daybeds are somewhat thin, but they still provide a great sleeping surface. Think of those naps on your patio; you’re quite comfortable there, right? Well, believe me, your guests will sleep like babies.
These beds also look quite attractive and will lend a unique look to the room they are placed in. Just think how quaint a white flowery wicker daybed might look inside. Just place an arrangement of fresh flowers beside it and your guests might think they are on vacation and may even want to extend their stay!
Many of the better contemporary daybeds, although somewhat more costly, are made of high grade outdoor resin wicker or high grade aluminum, and have a much longer lifespan than those you will find at discount home stores; so this should definitely be a consideration when purchasing an outdoor daybed.
You will also want to be sure that the fabric you select for the bed has an exterior grade foam that is not prone to mold or mildew. Beds that are top quality also use fabrics that will not fade in the sun and foam that will not damage in the rain, also adding to the longevity of the bed.
If you don’t yet have an outdoor daybed, start shopping. If you do already have one, try moving it indoors the next time you have overnight guests. Trust me, you’ll wonder why you hadn’t thought of this clever idea sooner and your guests will think you are a genius!
